Relearning machine learning
Hiyo, from NYC!
Relearning machine learning
For fun and other reasons, I am going over CS229: Machine Learning materials again along with CS281, and Learning from data. I have to admit that I don't remember much from CS229 and CS281. My clearest memory of CS229 was when we had to run and bike to collect data for our final project to predict a person's mode of transportation. (Funnily enough, our CS229 final project report still gets more citations than any of my published papers.)
My goal is to deepen my understanding of the subject while working on relevant projects. While these classes are not the most up-to-date, they cover enough of the fundamentals. I also want to use this as an opportunity to think about the learning process. I will share what I learn later. :)
Fun finds
An article on how animals vote. Nothing too deep but there are fun facts for a lunch conversation.
Cutely arranged Bite-size writing tips.
I watched Portrait of a Lady on Fire this past weekend. No wonder a friend said he wouldn’t mind watching it for the second time.
An article about how China's bookstores are navigating the coronavirus epidemic. Bookstores in China have transformed themselves into social space. When people are afraid to be social, they among other businesses had to come up with alternative strategies. Cool images of huge bookstores included.
Hope that you are staying healthy. Wash your hands thoroughly often. Until next time!
