Introducing Paoponder newsletter
Hiyo!
Thank you for signing up for my newsletter. I have always wanted to write more and hence this newsletter. Here comes the first one!
Life updates:
This past week, I just celebrated my birthday. There are a bunch of first’s for me: receiving a microwave as a birthday gift, reading a Thai novel in English, finding out that I am normal after all and trying out Thai Food at Uncle Boons. Thank you for the birthday wishes, phone calls, gifts, and a great time! I feel so loved. You guys are amazing ^_^!
Recently, I've got interested in how society innovates and makes collective decisions. I am reading Amartya Sen’s Collective Choice and Social Welfare. Sen was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1998 for his work in welfare economics. The book is easy to read and informative. He organizes the chapters by pairing a layman chapter with a math-heavy counterpart so it is accessible for an Econ-noob like me.
I am still at the beginning of the book but I’ve already learned a bunch. For example, I never occurred to me that what I mistook for majority voting is actually something else called plurality voting.
Fun stuff:
Virtual reality has heated up and cooled down. The big next wave is VR for pets. The space is soon going to be super crowded. Let me know if you have a pet VR startup idea and are looking for a cofounder.
Hope you all have a great week! Feel free to hit reply with your thoughts, stories, and feedback. I would love to hear from you.
I haven’t figured out how people can unsubscribe yet. Muahahaha.
If you have better things to do than reading my prattling (which you probably do), please feel free to tell me you no longer want to receive the e-mails. I will be happy to fix it up for you. :)
